Glyph | Sculpt Wheel Pro - Troubleshooting Guide

Problem 1: The Pie Menu Doesn't Appear When I Press the Hotkey

This is the most common issue and can have several causes.

Solution 1: Basic Checks

  1. Are you in Sculpt Mode? Glyph is designed specifically for Sculpt Mode. It will not activate in Object Mode, Edit Mode, etc.
  2. Check Your Hotkey: Go to the 3D Viewport and press the N key to open the sidebar. Find the Glyph tab. At the top of the panel, you will see a dropdown for "Activation Hotkey". Make sure this is set to the key you are actually pressing.
  3. Check for Keymap Conflicts: Another addon or a custom keymap might be using the same hotkey.
    • Go to Edit > Preferences > Keymap.
    • In the search bar at the top, type the name of the hotkey (e.g., "Space").
    • Look through the list to see if another action under "Sculpt" or "3D View (Global)" is using the exact same key. If so, you will need to change either that keymap or the activation key in the Glyph panel.

Solution 2: Restart and Refresh

  1. Restart Blender: This is the single most effective solution. A restart clears temporary data and forces Blender to reload all resources correctly.
  2. Disable and Re-enable the Addon:
    • Go to Edit > Preferences > Add-ons.
    • Find "Glyph | Sculpt Wheel Pro" in the list.
    • Uncheck the box next to its name to disable it.
    • Check the box again to re-enable it. This forces the addon's registration code to run again.

Problem 2: Text is Missing, Looks Like Squares, or is Invisible

This indicates that the custom font file used by the addon could not be loaded correctly.

Solution 1: Restart Blender

  • Blender's font cache can sometimes fail to update when an addon is first installed or updated. Restarting Blender is the most reliable way to fix this.

Solution 2: Reinstall the Addon

  • If restarting doesn't work, the font file (Roboto-Bold.ttf) might be missing or corrupted. A clean reinstall will fix this.
    1. Go to Edit > Preferences > Add-ons.
    2. Find Glyph and click the "Remove" button.
    3. Restart Blender.
    4. Reinstall the addon from the .zip file.

Solution 3: Check Colors (for Invisible Text)

  • If the pie menu appears but the text is just gone, you might have accidentally set a text color to be fully transparent or the same color as the background.
  • Go to N-Panel > Glyph > Preferences > Colors. Check the colors for your slices, center button, etc.
  • The text color is automatically calculated to contrast with its background, but extreme settings can cause issues. A good test is to go to N-Panel > Glyph > Presets and click "Reset to Addon Default". If the text reappears, the issue was with your color settings.

Problem 3: Icons Look Blurry, are Missing, or Show a "Not Found" Image

This usually relates to the thumbnail cache or file paths.

Solution 1: Use the Refresh Button

  • Go to the N-Panel > Glyph > Thumbnail Manager.
  • Click the "Refresh Lists" button. This forces the addon to clear its cache and re-scan the thumbnail folders, loading all available images.

Solution 2: Check File Names

  • The addon matches icons based on their filenames (e.g., the "Draw" brush looks for Draw.png, Draw.jpg, etc.). If you have renamed a custom thumbnail file, you will need to re-assign it in the N-Panel > Glyph > Wheel Settings.

Problem 4: The Brush Outline (Cursor) Disappears and Doesn't Come Back

This can happen if Blender or the addon closes unexpectedly while the pie menu is open.

Solution 1: The Easiest Fix

  • Simply open and close the Glyph pie menu one more time. The addon is designed to restore the brush outline's visibility every time it closes cleanly.

Solution 2: Manual Restore

  • If the above doesn't work, you can manually re-enable it. At the top of the 3D Viewport in Sculpt Mode, find the "Show Brush" checkbox (its icon is a circle with a dotted outline). Make sure it is checked.

Problem 5: "Pillow library not found" error appears when adding a thumbnail.

This means a required Python library for image processing is missing from your Blender installation. This is common with daily builds or brand new versions of Blender.

Solution: Use the Built-in Installer

  1. Go to the N-Panel > Glyph > Thumbnail Manager.
  2. Click the "Add Custom" button.
  3. In the dialog that appears, you will see the error message along with a button labeled "Try to Install Pillow". Click it.
  4. The addon will attempt to download and install the library automatically. This requires an internet connection.
  5. If it fails with a "Permission Error", you may need to close Blender and run it as an Administrator just once, then try the installation again.

Problem 6: “Texts are not visible in wheel”

This happens when you change the theme of Blender. Deactivate and Activating the addon will solve this issue.

  1. Go to Edit > Preferences > Addon
  2. Deactivate the Glyph. and Activate it again.
  3. Test it out. if Texts are still not visible, reinstall it. issue will 99% solved.
